"Cold Wind", by Nicola Griffith, is a dark fantasy tale about a woman who enters a Seattle bar on a cold wintry night in the midst of the Christmas holidays, searching for something…or someone.
"Rich description here. One thing about a writer like Griffith, I can read an opening like this with complete confidence there won’t be a glittery vampire in the bathroom."--Locus

Not a bad vignette about older, more primal gods than the ones we're accustomed to. But at the same time, I found myself wanting more from this story. It struck me as less meat, more bone, though I'd be eager to pick up a longer, more fleshed-out work from this author.Product details

Cold Wind A TorCom Original eBook Nicola Griffith Reviews
Nice little short story.
Didn't read yet, but expect it to be good.
Wonderful writing.
Wonderful story. I could read a novel based in this story!!
Short and to the point. Reminds me of Poe. There could have been loads of background but that would a different format.
Griffith has a real gift for bringing mythic beings to life in her fiction. She's a wonderful nature writer, as well. The first few sentences in this story are worth the price of admission.
Old dangers on Seattle streets during Solstice. Beautifully written. Left me wanting a much longer story/myth with deeper background. But it is just a short story on a dark night. Lovely.
